Program Details

July 9th - august 4th, 2018

Open Doors Dance Festival is an intensive summer program in the heart of the Midwest in Iowa's Cultural Corridor, Iowa City/Coralville. With four full weeks of classes and performances, Open Doors gives students ages 10 - 22 years old an opportunity to study and perform with some of the world's most prolific dance professionals.

Students will have the opportunity to attend classes in modern, ballet, pointe, contemporary, improvisation, choreography, repertory, variations, musical theatre, conditioning, and pilates.

2018 Instructors include: Wendy Whelan, Analia Alegre-Femenias Weber, Autumn Eckman, Lloyd Knight, Grace Snider, Brandon Cournay, Douglas Gillespie, Michel Kouakou, Marjorie Thompson, Gregory Dolbashian, Tamisha Guy, and Louie Marin. More information here for 2018 Festival instructors.

Open Doors Dance Festival - Ballet Week

June 11th–15th

Tuition: $385.00

Open Doors ballet week is for ages 11+ and/or ballet levels 5+ and will focus on ballet and pointe. We are thrilled to welcome Wendy Whelan of the New York City Ballet. In addition to guest instructor Wendy Whelan, Open Doors Ballet Week will feature the Festival's own Grace Snider. In addition to teaching classes during Ballet week, Ms. Whelan will be screening her film Restless Creature. Information and tickets will be available soon. 


Open Doors Dance Festival

Week 3: July 23rd–27th | Week 4: July 30th–August 3rd

Tuition: $425.00 - 15% discount is available for those students who participate in all 4 weeks

Open Doors Dance Festival is for dancers that want to experience a professional, intimate dance workshop. Participants will learn from elite soloists from some of the best dance companies in the world, as well as some of the best choreographers in the field. Each day will consist of Ballet and Modern Classes along with evening repertoire. This program is intended for the intermediate/advanced professional dancer (ages 11+ with modern experience and extensive ballet experience required). Performance Showcase is August 3rd and 4th, 2018.


Youth Open Doors Dance Festival

Week 1: July 9th–13th | Week 2: July 16th–20th

Week 3: July 23rd–27th | Week 4: July 30th–August 3rd

Tuition: $295.00 - 15% discount is available for those students who participate in all 4 weeks

Open Doors Dance Festival is for dancers that want to experience a professional, intimate dance workshop. Completion of Nolte Academy Ballet 3 is recommended). Performance Showcase is August 3rd and 4th, 2018.


Open Doors Tap Week

Week 1: June 25th–29th

Week 2: August 6th–10th

Tuition: $295.00

Open Doors Tap Week is for dancers—both advanced and intermediate—that want to experience a professional, intimate dance workshop. We offer both advanced and intermediate groups. The advanced group is for current tap levels 5+ and the intermediate group is for current tap levels 3-4. Students are to bring a daily lunch.
